Fayette judge revokes man’s bond

By Matthew Hill
Staff Writer

Fayette County Circuit Judge John Hatcher revoked a Montgomery man’s bond Thursday and remanded him to Southern Regional Jail when he tested positive for marijuana prior to his sentencing hearing.

Brandon L. Watkins, 21, will learn his fate at a rescheduled sentencing Monday.

As defense attorney Jack Thompson explained, Watkins faces one to five years behind bars following his Feb. 11 guilty plea to one count of delivery of a controlled substance, marijuana. Watkins purportedly sold two grams of marijuana — worth $20 on the street — in a drug buy coordinated by Montgomery police last October.

Watkins has an application for probation that is pending, Thompson noted.
