Two write-in candidates, including a former mayor, will oppose the incumbent mayor in the upcoming Gauley Bridge municipal election.
William C. Kincaid and Thomas Neal, the former mayor, will mount write-in challenges against Mayor Damon Runyon when Gauley Bridge voters go to the polls on Tuesday, June 9.
Incumbent recorder Stephanie Fout will be unopposed.
On the ballot for town council, current councilmen Larry Begley Jr. and Byron Winebrenner will be joined by Charles Phillip Fout (a former council member), Roger Hayes, Matthew Parcell, Tim Blankenship and Jonathan Grose in the competition for the five council seats.
Voters have until May 19 to register to vote, according to Stephanie Fout.
Early voting begins May 20 and will conclude June 6. Early voting will be accepted at town hall from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on two Saturdays, May 30 and June 6.
Election day voting will be from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at town hall.
