Runyon, Fields capture top spots in Gauley, Pratt
Mayor Damon Runyon was re-elected by Gauley Bridge voters in Tuesday’s municipal election.
Runyon garnered 60 votes to turn back challenges from a pair of write-in candidates. A former mayor, Tom Neal, was close behind with 49 votes. William C. Kincaid secured eight votes.
Incumbent recorder Stephanie Fout, who was unopposed, received 103 votes.
Current councilmen Byron Winebrenner and Larry Begley Jr. again achieved favor with voters. Winebrenner topped council vote-getters with 95, while Begley received 77 tallies. Others voted in to the five-person council were Charles Phillip Fout and Matthew Parcell, with 77 votes each, and Jonathan Grose, who gleaned 69. Rounding out the field were Tim Blankenship (57) and Roger Hayes (22).
In Pratt in eastern Kanawha County, a former mayor was voted back in to office Tuesday. Gary Fields collected 61 votes, according to unofficial reports in The Charleston Gazette.
Tammie Alexander was elected recorder with 47 votes.
With 87 votes, incumbent Kaye Ford led the town council ticket. Also winning seats were: Charlotte Calhoun, 80; John McPhail, 79; Rose Perry, 51; and Matt Perry, 49.
Both Perrys were incumbents, and McPhail was appointed as a replacement earlier this year.
Elizabeth Hopkins was last with 46 votes.
