Evlynn Knight Barnett
Evlynn Knight Barnett, 89, of Texas, died March 27, 2008.
Surviving: children, Jane Congdon and Joe Barnett; brother, John S. Knight Jr. of Seabrook, Texas; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces.
Memorial service was held April 2 at The Thomas-Justin Memorial, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Donald Lee Lewis, 66, of Hansford, died April 4, 2008, at his home.
Born Nov. 13, 1941, in Holly Grove, he was the son of the late Oswald Ezekiel Sr. and Clara Phillips Lewis. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Lynn Lewis; and a nephew, C.R. Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Hansford. He served in many capacities at the church, including as senior warden, a lay reader and chalice bearer. He also served as secretary-recorder for the New River Episcopal Ministries, and headed the local food bank for the church. His ministries to the church were close to his heart and too numerous to mention.
He was a member and Past Master of Coal Valley Lodge #74 AF & AM in Montgomery and served as its current secretary. He also was Past High Priest of Montgomery Chapter #47, Royal Arch Masons; and a Past Commander of Mt. Hope Commandery #22, Knights Templer.
He was a Past Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of West Virginia and currently served as Grand Treasurer of the Grand Chapter.
Mr. Lewis was a member and Past Prior of Mountain State Priory #55, Knight of the York Cross of Honor and was the Sovereign of West Virginia Conclave of the Red Cross of Constatine.
He was also a Past Preceptor of the Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests and a Past Installed Master of the Allied Masonic Degrees.
He was currently serving as Grand Governor of West Virginia in the York Rite College of North America and was a recipient of the prestigious Order of the Purple Cross, of which he was very proud.
He was a member of the Masonic Rosecrucians Society and was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and was a Past Presiding officer of the Scottish Rite Bodies.
He was a 33-year active member of Kanawha #38 Order of Eastern Star in Montgomery and was currently serving as Worthy Patron.
Mr. Lewis graduated from East Bank High School in 1960 and from West Virginia Institute of Technology. He served in the U.S. Army and at the West Virginia Department of Highways.
Surviving: his wife, Kathy (Patchell) Lewis; a daughter, Mary Jean Lewis of Roanoke, Va.; a stepson, Tim Massey of Portsmouth, Va.; brothers, Carl and his wife, Donna, of Gadsden, Ala., and Oswald “Tojo” and his wife, Barbara, of Hansford; a sister, Marion Carnell of Richardson, Texas; eight nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and many fraternal brothers and sisters in the Masonic community.
Service was April 7 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Sheperd in Hansford with Fr. Stan Holmes officiating. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.

Amanda Leigh Poff, 33, of Pratt, died April 1, 2008, at home.
Born March 29, 1975, in Charleston, she was the daughter of David H. and Elizabeth Bailey Poff.
She was a graduate of East Bank High School and West Virginia University Institute of Technology. She was controller for Montgomery General Hospital.
Surviving, in addition to her parents: a brother, Donnie Ray Poff of Pratt; sister, Donna Kay Poff of Rehobeth Beach, Dela.; grandmother, Margaret Bailey of Montgomery; nephews, James Ray Poff and Nicholas David Calvosa; niece, Cassie Dawn Poff; and aunts, Judy Shawkey, Dorothy Jean Siemiaczko and Carolyn Hanson.
Service was April 5 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating.

Laura Victoria Pritt, 59, of Montgomery, died April 1, 2008, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Born March 19, 1950, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Max and Paula Tucker Bledsoe.
Mrs. Pritt was a member of the Open Door Community Church in Powellton.
Surviving: husband, William E. Pritt; children, Victoria A. Proctor and husband, Ricky Morton, of Montgomery, Donna Castell and husband, Charlie Patton, of Belle, William Pritt Jr. and wife, Stephanie Chrispyn, of Goshen, Ind., and Mary Pritt and husband, Tony Duncan, of Montgomery; 15 grandchildren; sisters, Rose Cogar of Jacksonville, Fla., Emma-Lee Perry of Powellton, Edith Brown of Bickmore, Donna Stinnett of Cottle, Rochella Eyler of Powhatan, Va., Loretta Dickinson of Mt. Carbon, Vicky Hess of Summersville, and Jo Ann James of Clay; half-sister, Peggy Daniel of Surveyor; brothers, Dean Bledsoe of Syracuse, N.Y., Max Bledsoe of Powellton and Ross Bledsoe of Montgomery; and half-brother Jerry Bledsoe of Saxon.
Service was April 5 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. Greg Frances and Rev. Harlan Pritt officiating. Burial followed in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow.

Sarah Louise Hayslett Shawver, 100, of Smithers, died March 31, 2008, in Montgomery General Hospital after a short illness.
Born Oct. 16, 1907, in Boomer, she was the daughter of the late Orliff Preston and Margaret Alice Littlejohn Hayslett. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy M. Shawver.
Mrs. Shawver was a member of Smithers Presbyterian Church, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 38, Montgomery, and White Shrine, Charleston.
She was a lifelong resident of Smithers.
Surviving: a daughter, Marian Shawver Ballard of Mansfield, Ohio; sons, Edward and Lacy Preston Shawver, both of Mansfield; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service was April 3 at Hooper, Bostic & Layne Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Elder Jim Dempsey officiating. Burial was in Shawver Cemetery, Corliss.
