Tommy Harold Valentine



Tommy Harold Valentine, 69, of Kimberly, died July 17, 2008, after a long battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Born Oct. 26, 1938, he was one of twin sons born to the late Carl Harold Valentine and Emma Louise Duncan Valentine. He also was preceded in death by his twin brother, Johnny.

Mr. Valentine worked for Cannelton Coal Company and its many successor companies until 1998 when he retired after 41 years of service.

Surviving: his devoted wife of nearly 51 years, Barbara Ann Querry Valentine; daughter, Diana Sandoro and her husband, Lorenzo, of Montgomery; son, Danny Valentine and his wife, Kathy, of Powell, Ohio; sister, Ella Lou Harvey and her husband, Guy, of Tad; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Valentine of Mt. Carbon and Lisa Bane of Hurricane; brother-in-law, Jack Querry of Deepwater; grandsons, Colt and Alex Sandoro of Montgomery; and two nieces, three nephews, three great-nieces and five great-nephews.

Service was July 21 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park, London. As Tommy requested there was no visitation.

The family requests that donations be made to Hospice Care, 1143 Dunbar Ave., Dunbar, WV 25064.

Curtis T. Walker



Curtis T. Walker, 79, of Dixie, died July 11, 2008, at Hubbard Hospice House after a short illness.

Born March 9, 1929, he was a son of the late George Washington and Bessie Truman Walker of Nallen. He also was preceded in death by sisters, Opal Sparks, Mildred Hendricks, Irene Bennett and Ruby Rudd; and brothers, George, Carl and Leonard Walker.

Curtis was a member of Ida Missionary Baptist Church for 52 years. He was a retiree of Elkem Metals, Alloy.

Surviving: his wife of 58 years, Oleda Pearl Adkins Walker; daughter and her husband, Carolyn Sue and Terry Baker; granddaughters and their husbands, Tara and Todd Nelson and Crystal and Ezra Schoolcraft; great-granddaughters, Brooklyn “Faith” Nelson, Lacey “Hope” Nelson and Addison “Grace” Schoolcraft.

Funeral services were July 14 at the Pennington Funeral Home Chapel, Gauley Bridge, with the Rev. Larry Skaggs officiating. Burial followed in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.
