Margaret Magalene Pauley Boggess
Margaret Magalene Pauley Boggess, 77, of Oak Hill, died Oct. 7 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill after a sudden illness.
Born July 29, 1931, at Riverside, she was the daughter of the late George and Mae Sites Pauley.
Mrs. Boggess was a member of the LifeBridge Assembly of God, Oak Hill, and a homemaker.
Surviving: her husband, Boyd Clinton Boggess; a son, Samuel Lee Boggess and wife Patricia of North Lake, Ill.; a sister, Annabelle Cory of Aberdeen, Md.; brothers-in-law, Gene Smith of Virginia Beach, Va., Earl Boggess and wife Edna of Page, Joe Boggess and wife Charlotte of Palm Coast, Fla., and Troy Boggess and wife Hazel of Gallipolis, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Betty Boggess of Kimberly and Lois Boggess of Vine Grove, Ky.; granddaughters, Kristy Boggess and Michelle Boggess, both of North Lake, Ill.; her best friend, Sherry Kincaid of Fayetteville; and a host of other friends.
Services were Oct. 11 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Rev. Joe Hoggard and Rev. George Mandakunis officiating. Burial was at Montgomery Memorial Park in London.

Becky Sue Cline
Becky Sue Cline, 55, of Oak Hill, died Oct. 7, 2008, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Born Sept. 17, 1953, at Kanawha Falls, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Florence Clark Cline Jr. A son, Justin Edward McVey, and a brother, James Edward Cline, also preceded her in death.
Becky was a 1971 graduate of Fayetteville High School. She had a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia Institute of Technology in Montgomery and a master’s from Mountain State University in Beckley.
She was a special education teacher, having retired from Collins Middle School in Oak Hill.
Surviving: sons, Joshua Trevor McVey of Oak Hill and Ali Christopher Cline of Minnesota; brother, Thomas Cline III of Quaker Hill, Conn.; and a sister, Cheryl Cline Deacon of Covington, Va.
Ms. Cline was cremated. There was no visitation or service.

Cecil Raymond Jarrett
Cecil Raymond Jarrett, 83, of Scarbro, died Oct. 11, 2008, at Hidden Valley Nursing facility, after a long illness.
Born March 8, 1925, at Milburn, he was the son of Thearon and Mary Rose Jarrett Sr. of Paint Creek. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Mae Whitt Jarrett; brothers, Theron Jarrett Jr. of Oak Hill, Lenor Jarrett Treadway of Rock Mountain, Va., and Jack Jarrett of Paint Creek.
Cecil was a retired coal miner, having worked for Imperial Colliery Coal Co. He was a member of the Mossy Living Word Church and loved to hunt, fish, and camp.
He was a Seaman First Class honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on April 6, 1948, having served in World War II.
Surviving: his daughters, Mary E. Giles and Linda Rinehart and her husband, Bob, all of Fayetteville, and Denice Stover and her husband, James, of Paint Creek; his son, Bruce Jarrett and his wife, Trina, of Gatewood; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Phillip, Jessica, and Jared Stover of Hico, Brandon, Kim, Eric, and Eli Stover of Scarbro, Danielle, Tommy, Alexa, and Zack Horrocks, Cheryl, Chelsie, and Jordan Horrocks, all of Dixie, Kelly, Andy, and Kayla McMillion of Scarbro, and Taylor Jarrett and Tyler Jarrett of Gatewood; great-great-grandchildren, Andrew and Jacob McMillion; brothers, Donnie Jarrett and wife Edith of Gatewood, Jimmy Jarrett and wife Evelyn of Paint Creek, and Benny Jarrett and wife Kathy of Illinois; and sisters, Pauline Workman of Coal River, and Caroline Smathers and Shirley Blevins, both of Hilltop.
Funeral services were Oct. 14 at the Mossy Living Word Church at Mossy, with the Rev. Paul Basham officiating. Burial followed in Gethsemane Memorial Garden, Pea Ridge Road, Oak Hill, where graveside military services were conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post 3110.

Paul Douglas Jones
Paul Douglas Jones, 64, of Kincaid, died Oct. 11, 2008, at VAMC, Beckley, after a long illness.
Born Nov. 1, 1943, at Ethel, Logan County, he was the son of the late Hillery Jones and the late Cynthia Matheny Jones Bailey. He also was preceded in death by his stepfather, Vernon Bailey; and a brother, Tom Jones.
Mr. Jones was a retired salesman and manager for Heilig-Meyers Co., Rainelle.
He was a member of the Page Baptist Church at Page and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam Conflict.
Surviving: his wife, Jane Perkins Jones of Kincaid; a son, Eric D. Jones of Princeton; a daughter, Alison Burke and her husband, Seth, of Leslie; grandchildren, Austin Jones, Ethan Jones, Zoey Jones, Madison Burke, and Lauren Burke; brothers, Ray Jones of Fayetteville, James Jones of Hayes, Va., Vernon Bailey of Robson, and Hollie Bailey of Kincaid; and sisters, Jeanetta Wolfe of Page, Rosetta Billings of Custer Park, Ill., Loretta Hambrick of Cross Lanes, and Kathy Clay of Kincaid.
Funeral services were Oct. 14 at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Rev. Delmas Wolfe and Rev. Bill Deskins officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Settle Cemetery at Robson, with military rites conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post 3110.

Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Ray Kinder
Ronald “Ronnie” Ray Kinder, 72, of Morris Drive, Montgomery, died Sept. 30, 2008, surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and church family.
Ronnie was born on March 8, 1936, in Powellton.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He devoted his life to providing and caring for his family and friends.
He enjoyed being involved in church services and activities, where he was a proud member of the Morris Drive Church of Jesus Christ, Morris Drive, Montgomery. He loved to fish, picnic and spend his time with his beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Haley.
Surviving: his wife of 46 years, Lorene E. White Kinder of Montgomery; daughter, Michelle “Shelly” Stafford and her husband, Dale, of Beckley; grandchildren, Ryan and Haley Stafford of Beckley; sister, Betty Wood of Powellton; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life was held Oct. 3 at the Morris Drive Church of Jesus Christ, Montgomery, with Pastor Franklin D. Brown officiating. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.

Ralph C. Morris
Ralph C. Morris, 74, of Adonijah Community, Lizemores, died Oct. 5, 2008, at home after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 24, 1933, in Crosby, he was a son of the late Esmond L. and Maggie Alice Morris. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Fisk; and brothers, Dale, Merle, Edward and Norman Morris.
Mr. Morris was a retired carpenter, a member of Laurel Fork Missionary Baptist Church, Lizemores, and an Army veteran.
Surviving: his wife, Leona McGraw Morris; daughter, Regina Bass of Lizemores; sons, Jeff, Bruce and Jamie Morris, all of Lizemores; sisters, Marie Johnston of Glen and Doris Summers and Evelyn Mitchell, both of Lizemores; and seven grandchildren.
Service was Oct. 8 at Laurel Fork Missionary Baptist Church, Lizemores, with the Rev. Earl Elliott and the Rev. Naaman H. Moore officiating. Burial was in the Morris Family Cemetery, Lizemores.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Clay VFW Post 4419.

Jason Stanley Pritt
Jason Stanley Pritt, 36, of Victor, died at his home Oct. 9, 2008, following a sudden illness.
Born Jan. 26, 1972, in Montgomery, he was the son of Stanley R. Pritt of Turkey Creek and the late Emma Jean Ramsey Pritt.
Mr. Pritt was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and attended the Ansted Baptist Church in Ansted.
Surviving, in addition to his father: his wife, Briana Potter Pritt of Victor; daughter, Sarah Jean Pritt at home; sister, Jeweia Jones and her husband, Steven, of Dixie; and brother, Jonah Pritt and his wife, Melissa, of Victor.
Funeral services were Oct. 11 at the Chapel of Rest Mausoleum at Victor with Pastor Warren Gilpen officiating. Burial followed in the Restlawn Memory Gardens at Victor.

Elizabeth F. Samples
Elizabeth Frazier Samples, 89, of Boomer, died Oct. 6, 2008, at her home.
Born April 18, 1919, in Handley, Elizabeth was a daughter of the late Welzey and Martha Cobb Frazier. She also was preceded in death by her brother, Charles, and sister, Virginia.
She married her beloved husband, Hubert B. Samples, on May 1, 1937. They had been married 67 years when Hubert died on Dec. 18, 2004.
She loved being a mother, grandmother and a part of the loving Samples family.
Surviving: her children, Barbara Gabel of Arden Hills, Minn., Ronald Samples and wife, Elaine, of Brunswick, Ohio, Gene Samples of Athens, Ohio, Donald Samples of Snellville, Ga., and Jane Elliott of Boomer; grandchildren, Lee, Amy, Jennifer, Frankie, Sammy, Shawn, Christina, Ryan, Jeremiah and Joshua; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Oct. 11 at the Pennington Funeral Home Chapel, Gauley Bridge, with the Rev. Chester Bird officiating. Burial was in Samples Cemetery, Bomont, following the funeral.

Frederic Hamilton Sapp
Frederic Hamilton Sapp, 89, of Belle, died Sept. 28, 2008, at the Marmet Center of Genesis Health Care, after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederic and Elinor Gates Sapp; his wife, Dora; his son, James Ronald; his daughter, Susan Rachel; his brother, Samuel Sapp; his sister, Martha Sapp Kincaid; and his infant sister, Rachel Sapp.
Mr. Sapp was a graduate of Nicholas County High School, a veteran of World War II and a retiree from Belle works of DuPont.
In addition to his work at DuPont, Mr. Sapp followed his father’s trade and maintained an electrical contracting business, through which he wired many houses and commercial buildings in the Belle area. Mr. Sapp also had been a competitive pistol shooter and held a lifelong interest in firearms.
Surviving: his son, Frederic of Maryland; his stepbrother, Bill Sapp of Gassaway; his granddaughters, Martha Alexander of New York and Dora Sapp of North Carolina; his cousin, Betty Grose Burroughs; and his close friend, Jack Adkins.
Services were Oct. 4 at White Funeral Home, Summersville, conducted by Pastor Damon Bradshaw. Burial took place in the Grose family cemetery.
Mary Evelyn Veazey
Mary Evelyn Veazey, 92, of Glasgow, formerly of Oak Hill, died Oct. 10, 2008 at Golden Living Center, Glasgow.
Born Aug. 8, 1916, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ethel Stanley Dickinson. She also was preceded in death by husbands, William Grounds and Patrick Beirne Veazey; brothers, Billy Dickinson, Bobbie Dickinson, Donald Dickinson and William Ray Dickinson.
Mary was a very happy and optimistic woman who was loved by everyone she knew. Mary loved being surrounded by her family and was especially proud of her grandson and great grand daughters.
Surviving: son, Bobby Pat Veazey Sr. of Falls View; sister, Rosalie Dickinson of Glasgow; brother, Frank “Pikie” T. of Mt. Carbon; grandson, Bobby Pat Veazey Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and great-granddaughters, Kathryn Renee Veazey and Courtney Ann Veazey of Colorado Springs.

Janet Joanie Vermillion
Janet Joanie Vermillion, 64, of Montgomery, died Oct. 4, 2008, in St. Francis Hospital after a long illness.
Born Jan. 14, 1944, in Detroit, Mich., she was a member of Montgomery Presbyterian Church, a former nurse at Montgomery General Hospital and retired from Everett Glass Factory in Michigan.
Surviving: her son, Frankie Vermillion of Campbells Creek; and grandchildren, Chandler Scott Vermillion and LeAnn Michelle Vermillion, both of Glasgow.
Funeral services was Oct. 8 at Hooper, Bostic & Layne Funeral Home, Montgomery, with the Rev. Joan Stewart officiating. Burial was in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
