James Shannon Bass Sr.

James Shannon Bass Sr., 64, of Kimberly, died June 25, 2010, at home in the house in which he was born on Aug. 30, 1945.

He was the son of the late William E. and Marvel F. Stone Bass. He also was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Bass; brothers, Kenny and Bob Bass; and sister, Francis Burnside.

Mr. Bass was a member of Bell Creek Pentecostal Church and he was a retired coal miner with over 30 years’ service.

Surviving: wife, Ruth Bass; sons, Jimmy Bass of East Bank, Robert Bass of Holly Grove, Johnny Bates of Richmond, Ky., and Mike Bates and his wife, Christy, of Mt. Airy, N.C.; daughters, Tina Davis and her husband, Jim, of King, N.C., Shanda Rhodes and her husband, Eddie, of Madison, N.C., and Tonya Bates of Kimberly; brothers, Billy Bass of Elk Ridge, Troy Bass of Montgomery and Charles “Gene” Bass of LaPlata, Md.; sister, Phyllis Settle of Elkview; and grandchildren, Shaun, Jordan, Ryan, Justin and Hilary Bass, Lindsey, Ashley and Nick Davis, and Brittany, Sarah, Tyleesha, Olivia, Kimberly, Misty, Anthony and Jessica Bates.

Service was June 29 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with the Rev. Lee Holliday officiating. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.

Lewis Ward Blake

Lewis Ward Blake, 79, of Stonegate Way in Lexington, Ky., widower of Thelma Masters Blake, died June 25, 2010, at his home.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, James Ernest and Mary Jane Treadway Blake, and by nine brothers and sisters.

Lewis was a native of Deepwater. He retired after 32 years of teaching high school in Middletown, Ohio. He enjoyed traveling around the world with his wife, Thelma, and attending the Best Friends Alzheimer’s support group.

He also attended South Elkhorn Christian Church.

Surviving: a special sister-in-law, Jessie Masters; caregivers, Judy Barnett and Travis Hitch; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was June 28 at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in Richmond, Ky., with Tim Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Richmond Cemetery.

Robert Carl Fauber

Robert Carl Fauber, 57, of Mt. Nebo, formerly of Mount Olive, died on June 12, 2010.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dolores Fauber; brother, Homer Fauber; and sister, Pam Ramsey.

Robert was a graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology. He served his country as a U.S. Marine combat engineer who was a lance corporal in Platoon 219 in the Vietnam War. He had worked as a miner for several years.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, landscaping — love of the outdoors and the beauty of nature.

Surviving: his daughter, Jessica Lesher, and her husband, James, and granddaughter Mia Lesher, all of Ansted; brothers, Pat Fauber of Rockville, Md., and Louis Fauber of Charleston; sisters, Rebecca Jaquay of Rockville, Md., and Debra Fauber and Beverly Wolfinger, both of Findlay, Ohio.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

William Marvin Lutts Jr.

William Marvin Lutts Jr., 64, of Charlton Heights, died June 19, 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents , William M. Lutts Sr. and Virginia Price Lutts.

Surviving: his wife, Jo Ann Ruckman Lutts; daughter, Tracey Lutts; son, Gregory Lutts; and step-daughter, Sheri Bush and her husband, Billy Jr.

At his request, his body will be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Bonnie Mae Wilkinson

Bonnie Mae Wilkinson, 83, of Dixie, died on June 23, 2010, with her family by her side.

Born Aug. 9, 1926, at Lizemores, she was the daughter of the late Willie Ray and Agnes Ramsey Bird. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Doyle Wilkinson, and a grandson, Jerry A. Wilkinson Jr.

She was a loving mother who will be sadly missed by her family. She had a strong belief in God.

Surviving: sons and daughter-in-law, John D. Wilkinson of Mt. Nebo, and Jerry A. Sr. and Nancy Wilkinson of Tornado; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Ron Cooper of Dixie; sisters, Pauline Dawson of Bentree and Dorthalee Perdue of Dixie; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A private committal service was held June 25 at Kanawha Valley Memorial Park, Glasgow, with the Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating.
