Sedalia Hamrick
Sedalia Perry Hamrick, of Montgomery, died Aug. 8, 2010.
Born Nov. 8, 1924, at Page, she was the daughter of the late Robert P. and Ruby T. Perry. She also was preceded in death by her sisters, Marilyn Tucker and Elizabeth Perry, and brother, Gerald Perry.
She was a former employee of Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of West Virginia and she also worked as a licensed practical nurse at Laird Memorial Hospital in Montgomery.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Montgomery and of the First Christian Church, Montgomery.
Surviving: son, Reed Hamrick of Montgomery; daughter, Nancy Fitzwater of Boomer; niece, Melissa Laidlow; and nephews, Roy Tucker, Robin Tucker, Rex Tucker and Paul Harper.
The family plans to have a memorial service at a later date.

Marguerite Maiuri Jaquay
Marguerite Maiuri Jaquay, 85, of Montgomery, and formerly of West Columbia, S.C., and Capon Bridge, died Aug. 11, 2010, at Hubbard Hospice House.
Born May 2, 1925, in Montgomery, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Miranda Pollastrini Maiuri. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Jaquay, and a daughter, Mary Esther Lee.
Surviving: her children, Catherine and husband George Fisher of Boomer, Patricia and husband Angus Hinson of Lenoir City, Tenn., Joseph and wife Rebecca Jaquay of Rockville, Md., Julia and husband John Traylor of Elyria, Ohio, and Robert and wife Lisa Jaquay of Capon Bridge; grandchildren, Pam Fisher Boles and husband Jay of Boomer, Darin Fisher of Charleston, Charles Potter and wife Margaret of West Columbia, S.C., Kimberly Potter Stroupe and husband Darrell of Gaffney, S.C., Bryan Jaquay of Baltimore, Md., Sarah Jaquay Davis and husband Gray of Philadelphia, Pa., Justin Traylor of Denver, Colo., Whitney Traylor of Elyria, Ohio, Monica Lee Arnold of Virginia Beach, Va., Beth Lee McPherson of Philippi, and Robert M. Lee of Capon Bridge; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Joseph and wife Barbara Maiuri of Acworth, Ga., Louis and wife Jessie Maiuri of Summersville, Amelia and husband William Nutter of Westerville, Ohio, Patricia Lalla of Iowa City, Iowa, Michael and wife Kathleen Maiuri of Blacksburg, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial was Aug. 14 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Montgomery, with Father John Rice as celebrant. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.

Pearl Neal Legg
Pearl Neal Legg, 78, of Beckwith, died Aug. 10, 2010, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley.
Born June 5, 1932, in Vaughan, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Florence Long Neal. She also was preceded in death by brothers, Ben, Jim, Henry, Buster and Bill; and sisters, Edith, Alice, and Lydia.
Mrs. Legg worked as a teller at area banks and retired from the produce department at Kroger in Beaver.
Surviving: her husband of 59 years, Harold Junior Legg of Beckwith; sons, Russell “Bo” Legg and wife Beverly, and Danny Legg and wife Debbie, all of Beckwith; daughter, Deborah Wolfe and husband Darrell of Oak Hill; brothers, Roy Neal of Fayetteville and Percy Neal of Mt. Nebo; grandchildren, Delta Adkins, Jake Legg, Tabitha Conley, Amanda Valentine, James Roy Wolfe, Ben Wolfe, and Cody Wolfe; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 13 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Danny Sears officiating. Burial followed in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Grandison Licklider
Grandison Templin Licklider, 93, of Charlton Heights, died quietly at home from complications of Alzheimer’s on Aug. 12, 2010, surrounded by loving members of his family.
Born Feb. 13, 1917, in Shepherdstown, he was the only son of Julia (Maddox) and Edmond Lee Licklider.
He graduated from Morgantown High School and then entered West Virginia University where he earned a master’s degree in Chemistry. During his studies he had the distinction of being inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Fraternity.
Grandison “George” graduated from West Virginia University in 1940 and then began his 40-year career as a chemist with Union Carbide Corporation at Alloy. His career was interrupted for three years in which he honorably served his country during World War II.
During his military service in the Army Air Corps, he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant while serving as a meteorologist officer in the 21st Weather Squadron. His meteorological training was obtained at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
During his military service, he traveled throughout Europe and provided vital weather information for the planning of military campaigns.
Upon his return from military duty, Grandison met his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Faye Hiser, with whom he settled in Charlton Heights and had four daughters. She was his best friend and, during the last stages of illness, was not only his constant companion but also his loving caregiver.
During his life, Grandison was an avid reader, and enjoyed golf, tennis and working in his garden.
Surviving: daughters, Marilyn Faye Hitt (Dr. John, deceased), Suann Carelli (Harry), Betsy Ellen Grzyb, and Virginia Templin Vance; grandchildren, Teresa Chapman, Eric Hitt and Todd Hitt, Benjamin, Charles Templin and Cameron Bradley Keenan, Steve Grzyb, and Justin Templin Licklider; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Aug. 16 at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Rev. James Dempsey officiating. Burial followed in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Sharon Elaine Newhouse, 59, died Aug. 10, 2010, at her home in Victor, following a short illness.
Born March 5, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Margaret Dorman.
Surviving: her husband, Carl Newhouse; son, Carl Newhouse Jr. and his wife, Sherry, of Mount Hope; daughter, Stacey Phillips and her husband, Brian, of Stephens City, Va.; grandsons, Nick, Zack and Brayden; granddaughters, Breanna and Becca; brothers, Curtis Dorman Jr., Roger Dorman, Eddie Dorman; and a sister, Diana Hudson of Page.
Friends called Aug. 13 at the Chapel of Rest Mausoleum, Victor, prior to her burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Carol Ann Russell, 62, of Quarrier, died Aug. 11, 2010, at home.
Born Nov. 30, 1947, in Kayford, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ella Pruitt Stanley. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, David Russell; and her siblings, Christine Tanner, Lela Russell, Charlotte Summers, Norman Stanley, Herbert Stanley Jr., Carl Stanley and Gary Stanley.
Surviving: daughter, Deena Russell of Quarrier; son, Allen Russell and his wife, Jennifer, of Quarrier; her beloved dog, “Little Buddy”; sister, Maxine Noble and her husband, Jake, of Beckley; brothers, Charles Stanley and wife Marie of Ohley, Earl Stanley and his wife, Norma, of Red Warrior, and Kenneth Stanley and his wife, Shelby, of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Nick Hunt, David Russell, Lela Hunt and Luke Russell; and many nieces and nephews.
A private family service was held on Aug. 16 at Site Hill Cemetery with Rev. John Cantley officiating.
