Nancy June Bill
Nancy June Bill, 69, of Handley, died May 19, 2010.
Born Sept. 4, 1940, in Ansted, she was the daughter of the late Alfie and Delma Harrah. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn R. Bill.
Surviving: children, Sonia Thompson, Wesley Bill and Thomas Bill; sisters, Norma, Renie and Eleanor; five grandchildren and one stepgrandchild.
Service was May 24 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. Lewis Villers officiating. Burial was in Montgomery Memorial Park.

Sheryl Jean Blevins-Worstell
Sheryl Jean Blevins-Worstell, 63, of Oak Hill, died May 17, 2010, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley.
Born Aug. 6, 1946, at Oak Hill, she was the daughter of the late Forest and Maxine Mildred Frame Worstell.
Sheryl was a 1964 graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill. She was a life-long member of the Oak Hill Gospel Tabernacle.
Active in the antique community, Sheryl was a vendor at the Old Fort Antique Mall in Wytheville, Va., had been the manager for Carpetbaggers in Oak Hill and was currently the manager of New River Antique Mall in Fayetteville.
She loved collecting and restoring antique dolls and collecting toys and holiday items — especially Easter and Christmas. She was very active in Yesterdays Treasures Doll Club, having been an officer and helping arrange several local doll shows.
Sheryl loved going to the beach, listening to ‘70s music, caring for her plants and pets, and she will be greatly missed by her little dog, “Tiny.”
Surviving: her son, Billie Forest Blevins and wife Suzan of Oak Hill; companion of 17 years, Thearn H. “T.H.” Ellis Jr. of Beckley; sister, Joyce Taylor of Smithers; her granddaughter, Savannah Blevins of Oak Hill; step-grandson, Eric Barrett II of Oak Hill; nephew, John Taylor III of Smithers; great-nephew, John “J.T.” Taylor IV of Smithers; and godchild, Josette Settle Smith of Oak Hill.
Services were May 20 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill, with Rev. Allen Gallimore officiating. Burial was at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Myrtle Cook
Myrtle Susan Kirk Cook, 85, died May 13, 2010, at her home in Glasgow.
Born Feb. 11, 1925, in Breeden, Mingo County, Myrtle was the daughter of the late William C. and Lusta Kirk. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John C. “Jack” Cook, and daughter, Pamela Ann Montgomery.
She was a nursing assistant at Beverly Health Care in Glasgow and a member of Glasgow United Methodist Church, where she served as a volunteer with the Cub Scouts, MYF, and the Red Cross.
She was a poll worker and was in the church choir.
Surviving: her sons, Michael and wife Susan, William Patrick and Paul; daughters, Nannette Robson and husband William, Debbie Edwards and husband Danny, and Paula Grooms and husband Donald “Poochie”; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Robert Montgomery; and brother, Emery Kirk.
Services were May 16 at Glasgow United Methodist Church with Rev. John Massey officiating. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.

Wanda Mae McMillion
Wanda Mae McMillion, 73, of Fayetteville, died May 13, 2010, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley.
Born Sept. 14, 1936, at Kincaid, she was the daughter of the late Howard William and Ruby Scott McMillion. She also was preceded in death by her sisters, Deloris Adams and Mildred Rice.
Mrs. McMillion was a member of Shepherd Worship Center-Hand in Hand Missions at Summerlee, and she was a homemaker.
Surviving: her daughters, Margaret Dilley of Oak Hill, Claudia Lanham of Fayetteville, Vanessa Green of Oak Hill and Tina White of Fayetteville; son Bernard Green of Lookout; brother William H. McMillion of Powellton; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held May 16 at Shepherd Worship Center-Hand in Hand Missions at Summerlee, with Pastor Randy McGuire and Pastor Jerry Bush officiating.

Anna Cater Murad
Anna Cater Murad, 90, died May 16, 2010, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Montgomery on Christmas Day, 1919. Her parents, Lewis A. and Mary K. Cater, immigrated from Lebanon in 1912. She loved Montgomery and spent her entire life there. Sixty-one years ago, she married Louis R. Murad, who preceded her in death in 1970.
As a young women Anna attended West Virginia Tech and was known throughout the community for her talent as a vocal soloist. During World War II she sold the most war bonds in West Virginia and received a citation by the United States Treasury Department in recognition of this accomplishment.
Anna, along with her parents and husband, owned Cater’s Market in Montgomery and later Farmer’s Market in Alloy. Anna was also known throughout the Upper Kanawha Valley for “Anna’s Plants,” the business she had from her home every spring in Montgomery.
Community service always was an important part of her life. She was an Auxiliary member and past president of the Montgomery General Hospital Auxiliary, working for over 30 years in the gift shop. She was also a member of the Montgomery Women’s Club where she served on the board.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Later, as it became more difficult to attend services, she looked forward to Deacon John Divita’s visits on Sunday.
Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her four daughters and their families: Georgia and Thomas Riester of Bethel Park, Pa., Gloria and Randy Massey of Cross Lanes, Lou Ann and Gary Bowen of Montgomery, and Mary Jane and Perry Ayoob of Charleston. As “Siti,” she was blessed with 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren whom she lovingly adored and was always an important and vital part of their lives.
Anna was an only child and always had a very special relationship with Josephine Jacobs Fish and Gloria Jacobs Tabit, her first cousins, whom she regarded as sisters.
Mass of Christian burial was May 20 at St. Anthony’s Shrine Catholic Church in Boomer with Fr. John Rice as celebrant.

Junior Petry
Junior William Petry, 83, of Cannelton, died May 20, 2010, at CAMC-General Division.
Born Aug. 17, 1926, in Marting, he was the son of the late Goldie Smoot Petry. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard, Raymond and Homer Petry.
Mr. Petry was a retired coal miner from Cannelton Coal Company and a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving: his wife, Dorothy Jane Valentine Petry of Cannelton; son, Rick Petry of Cannelton; daughter, Vicki Russell of Hodgenville, Ky.; grandchildren, Brian McKinney and Brad Russell, both of Magnolia, Ky., Chris Petry of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Becky Petry of Smithers; great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Malcomb of Smithers; and nephew, Gene Petry of Charleston.
Funeral service was May 24 at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Minister Chester Bird officiating. Burial followed in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, with military graveside rites conducted by Ansted VFW Post 7695.

Olive Williams
Olive Williams, 92, of Boomer, died May 17, 2010.
Born April 2, 1918, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Williams; daughter, Loretta Riggins; sisters, Ruby Wisnewski and Hazel Edington; and brothers, Charles “Tony” Thompson, A. Jake Haid and John C. Haid.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving: daughter, Charlotte Coleman and her husband, Ken, of Falls View; son, Mark Williams and his wife, Ann, of Ravenswood; special son-in-law, Carlton Riggins of St. Albans; grandsons, Jason M. Williams and Matt Reggins and his wife, Genienne; great-granddaughter, Jacie Reggins; sister, Lucille Hicks of St. Albans; and sister-in-law, Greta Wilkinson of South Charleston.
Service was May 22 at Cunningham Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in St. Albans with Minister Don Perry officiating. Entombment followed in Cunningham Memorial Park under the direction of O’Dell Funeral Home of Montgomery.
