Roberta W. Day

Roberta W. Day, 88, of Hansford, was called home to be with the Lord July 25, 2009, in Hubbard Hospice House.

Born Dec. 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Henry A. and Jeanette K. Powell Day Sr. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry A. Day Jr. and William A. Day; sister, Gertrude Day Minor; and a son, Rudolph Day.

She was a member of Hansford First Missionary Baptist Church in Hansford where she served as a Sunday school teacher, church trustee and she was also the Mother of the Church.

Surviving: Ms. Joyce Duncan of Hansford; son, Rev. Carl Day of St. Albans; brothers, Howell Day of Charleston, and Charles Day and his wife, Donna, of Cleveland, Ohio; sister, Mrs. Doris Yates of Charlottesville, Va.; granddaughters, April Day of Charleston and Heather Lightfoot of Shepherdstown; grandson, Jason Day of Charleston; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 30 at Hansford First Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Haven Memorial Park at Ingram Branch. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the church.

Phyllis Ann Lucas

Phyllis Ann Lucas, born Aug. 19, 2009, in Montgomery, went to be with the Lord after a long illness.

She was the duaghter of Louise Lucas and the late William Clay Lucas. She also was preceded in death by her brother, William Ray Lucas.

Phyllis touched many lives and never met a stranger who didn’t become her friend. Her generous personality will be missed by all who knew her.

She was retired from the State of West Virginia Department of Transportation.

Surviving, in addition to her mother: sisters, Nancy Shelton and Peggy Beach; and a brother, Donald Lucas.

Kenneth Edward Pritt Sr.

Kenneth Edward Pritt Sr., 30, of Powellton, died July 19, 2009.

Born June 11, 1979, in Charleston, he was the son of Nola Kurpel Duncan of Charleston and the late Harvey Joe Pritt.

Surviving, in addition to his mother: wife, Makayla Pritt; children, Tiffany Yoder, Alexandria Yoder, Alisha Yoder, Aaron Pritt, Kenneth Edward Pritt Jr. and Jachsen Pritt; sister, Delila Coleman of South Carolina, Melissa Smith of Kenna, Mary Brown of Spencer and Rebecca Pennington of Deepwater; and brothers, Dustin Pritt and Joseph Pritt, both of McDunn.

Service was July 24 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. Harlan Pritt officiating. Burial followed in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow.

Juanita Lillian Jones Redmond

Juanita Lillian Jones Redmond, 90, of Boomer, died July 25, 2009.

Born Jan. 9, 1919, in Boone County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Jones and Fairlea Jones. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Redmond, and a son, Michael Redmond.

Mrs. Redmond was a member of Boomer Baptist Church and she was a graduate of the former Laird Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as an LPN and she worked at the Gauley Bridge Clinic.

She was very artistic in painting of ceramics and tole painting and flower designing.

Surviving: a son, Larry Redmond of Indian Mills; sister, Mary Stear of Kansas; brother, Richard Jones of Studio City, Calif.; four grandsons, two great-grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Pastor James Neeson officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Park at Hinton. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
