Homer L. Banks



Homer L. Banks, 64, of Cleveland, Ohio, died Jan. 14, 2009, at the Red Carpet Nursing Home in Cambridge, Ohio.

Born Oct. 22, 1944, in Deepwater, he was the son of the late Richard Gwinn and Velma “Polly” Banks. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Gwinn; sister, Feaun Barron; and grandparents who rasied him, Pinkie and Estee Gwinn.

Homer had a big heart and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He assured everyone he was ready to move on to his final resting place, Heaven. His faith in the Lord was strong.

“Ludy” or “Topcat,” as he was known to some, worked at JL Steel in Cleveland, Ohio, for many years. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Montgomery.

He enjoyed music, travel, cars and motorcycles.

Surviving: his children, Velma Banks of Medina, Ohio, Whitney Price of Augusta, Ga., Trysha Marshall of Medina, Melissa Hill, Annette “Lucky” Hill, Alice “Lisa” Hill, Clifford Hill and Tyrone Hill, all of Cleveland, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Linda (Ronald) Price of Charleston, Sybil Spratt, Linda Faye Ferguson, Renee Gwinn, and Johnny Simmons, all of Cleveland, Charlotte Crowder of Arizona, Charles “Junie” Banks of Augusta, Ga., Kenneth Gwinn and Charles Mickle, both of Mt. Clemens, Mich.; friend and caregiver, Marty Mullins of Cambridge, Ohio; aunts, Virginia Mickle of Morris Drive, and Pastor Elder Mary Banks of Deepwater; and a host of nieces; nephews; relatives; and friends.

A celebration of Homer's life was held Jan. 19, at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, Ohio, with the Rev. William Issac Kinney officiating.

Billy Lee Bass Jr.



Billy Lee Bass Jr., 53, of Elkridge, died Jan. 14, 2009.

Born July 27, 1955, at Charlton Heights, he was the son of Billy Bass of Elkridge and the late Lula Mae “Boobie” Bass. In addition to his mother, he also was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Allen Bass, and a sister, Donna Bass.
