Virginia Williams Larese Greene
Virginia Williams Larese Greene, 87, of Oak Hill, died Nov. 13, 2009, at Plateau Medical Center.
Born April 5, 1922, at Garten, she was the daughter of the late John Williams and Mamie Jackson Williams. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Gene and Bill Williams; and sisters, Thelma Rupert, Bernice Barton, and Martha Purdy.
Virginia was of the Methodist faith and attended the Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
Surviving: her husband, Gerald Greene of Oak Hill; her son, Frank Larese and wife Kay of Belle; grandson, Mark Larese and wife Ann; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hailey Larese, all of Lebanon, Tenn.; a sister, Shirley Sizemore and husband Bill of Parrish, Fla.; and a brother, Burley Williams and wife Annie of Fayetteville.
Funeral service was Nov. 15 at the High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Charles Miller officiating. Entombment followed in High Lawn Memorial Park.

Chalmer Harless
Chalmer J. “Joe” Harless, 45, of Gastonia, N.C., died Nov. 11, 2009, at his residence.
A South Charleston native, he is the beloved son of Chalmer E. and Gloria D. Harless of Handley. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chalmer and Edith Harless and Mervin and Leona Danberry.
Mr. Harless was a graduate of South Charleston High School and West Virginia State University and was employed by Sterigenics as the director of radiation safety.
His previous employment included Carolinas Medical Center, Winchester (Virginia) Medical Center and IBA Molecular. He attended Bible Center Church in Charleston and Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte.
Surviving, in addition to his parents: brother, Jeff Harless and wife Mandy of Locus, N.C.; former wife, Misty Harless; daughters, Victoria and Veronica Harless of Mt. Holly, N.C.; nieces, Kendal and Kiley Harless; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Service was Nov. 16 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.

Betty J. Ferrel Hudnall
Betty J. (Ferrel) Hudnall, 79, of Glasgow, died Nov. 16, 2009, at Ansted Center, Ansted, after a short illness.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Chad Galen Hudnall.
Surviving: her son and wife, James “Bugs” and Delores Hudnall of Victor; aunt, Bert Moore of Glasgow; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, Cedar Grove, with Pastor Gary Tucker officiating. Burial will follow the services at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.

Earlina Gaye Hall Jackson
Earlina Gaye Hall Jackson, 64, of Morris Drive, Montgomery, died following a long illness.
Born Sept. 4, 1945, at Oak Hill Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Earl W. Hall and Evelyn V. Powers Hall. She also was preceded in death by her grandparents, several cousins, uncles, and a nephew whom she loved.
Earlina was a housewife, worked at WV Tech, and at several restaurants in Montgomery.
She loved working with the girls at Rainbow Floral and helping others.
She was born into The Church of Jesus Christ at Morris Drive on Nov. 26, 1986. She loved her church family.
Surviving: her loving husband of 47 years, Charles W. Jackson Jr.; loving children, John Earl Jackson and wife Toni, Marsha Lynn Petry and husband Greg, William R. “Bobby” Jackson and wife Michelle, and Charles Michael “Mike” Jackson and wife Chris, all of Montgomery; sister, Joyce Nugent and husband Joe of Fayetteville, N.C.; best friend and adopted mom, Katie “Jenny” Newkirk of Morris Drive; grandchildren, Christopher and Ethan, Ashley and Brooke, Aaron, Carey, Chad and Craig; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Hayden; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews, and her church family whom she loved.

Stella Mae Hypes Malcolm
Stella Mae Hypes Malcolm, 102, of Rt. 2 Fayetteville, died Nov. 6, 2009, at Hilltop Center in Hilltop.
Born April 17, 1907, at Tipton, she was the daughter of the late Albert Luther and Maude B. Rader Hypes and stepdaughter of the late India May Johnson Hypes. Her husband, John Malcolm, and sons, Harmon Shelton Jr., Ray Shelton, Mancil Shelton and Charles Shelton also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Malcolm was a homemaker. Her pride and joy was taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving: daughter, Eulah Wamsley of Rt. 2 Fayetteville; stepson, Don Malcolm; sister, Ruth Smith of Buckeye, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren and many loving great-grandchildren.
Graveside rites and committal services, followed by burial, were Nov. 12 at Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery in Kesslers Cross Lanes with Rev. William Johnson officiating.

Inez Marie Rucker Hornsby Orler, 78, of Scarbro, died Nov. 8, 2009, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born Sept. 9, 1931, at Pond Gap, she was the daughter of the late James and Betty Pearl Hapney Rucker. Her first husband, William Clayton Hornsby; second husband, John Orler; son, James W. Hornsby; and sisters, Mildred Milner, Elsie Baker and Margie Mayer, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Orler was a homemaker.
Surviving: sons, Gary W. Hornsby of Hilltop and Randy A. Hornsby of Danese; daughters, Betty Thompson of Scarbro, Sharon Toney of Carlisle and Vicki Walker of Scarbro; brothers, Delbert Rucker of Hughes Creek, Fred Rucker of Cedar Grove, Lonnie Rucker of Coal City, Ralph Rucker of North Carolina, Omer Rucker of Kentucky and Bill Rucker of Indiana; sisters, Louise Wiseman of Oak Hill, Nancy Barnett of Belle and Glada Callender of Coal City; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Opal Nellie Parker, 87, of Montgomery, died Nov. 14, 2009.
Born March 12, 1922, in Kanawha County, she was the daughter of the late Kiney Spencer and Myrtle Henshaw Hamrick. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Sinnett Alfred Parker; and her son, James Alfred Parker.
Mrs. Parker was a former employee of Cabin Creek Quilts and a member of the Riverside Church of God.
Surviving: children, Joyce Zymkoski and her husband, Ed, of Malta, Ohio, Dottie Freeman and her husband, Jim, of Little Birch, Roger Parker and his wife, Bonnie, of Marion, Ohio, Patricia Ann King of Charleston, Paula Cordle and her husband, Homer, of Westeville, Ohio, and Judy Austin of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Claude Hamrick of London and Otis Hamrick of Hugheston; sister, Shelby Thompson of Columbus; 12 grandchilden, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. Billy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.

Eva Mae See, 88, of Handley, died Nov. 14, 2009, at home.
Born Nov. 11, 1921, in Handley, she was the last surviving child of the late William Franklin and Gertrude Mae Moore See. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Basil See; her daughter, Mary June See; sisters, Mabel Evans, Nellie Shepard and Louise Richards; and a brother, Bill Williams.
Mrs. See was a member of the former Handley Full Gospel Church and she was a retired bookkeeper from Brown Chevrolet in Montgomery with 25 years of service.
Surviving: children, Carolyn Lea Van Dyck and her husband, Ned, of Front Royal, Va., Linda Louise Moser of Elkins, John Phillip See and his wife, Brenda, of Hansford, and David B. See Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Handley; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.
Service was Nov. 17 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. James R. Baldwin officiating. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.

Thomas H. Stafford, 64, of Fayetteville, died Nov. 16, 2009, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.
Born Jan. 14, 1945, at Beckley, he was the son of the late Harold and Juanita Marie Cantley Stafford.
Tom was a retired insurance agent for Monumental (Peoples) Life.
Surviving: his wife, Deanna L. Kidd Stafford; and a son, Shane.

Rev. Cary Summers
Rev. Cary D. Summers, 85, of Kincaid, died Nov. 14, 2009, at Plateau Medical Center.
Born March 6, 1924, at Ivydale, he was the son of the late Samuel David and Dolphia Paxton Summers. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Tribble Summers; son, Cary David Summers Jr.; brothers, Carl Summers and Paris Dulaney; and a great-grandson, David Andrew Nelson.
Rev. Summers attended Laurel Fork Advent Christian Church, Laurel Fork, was retired from Union Carbide Corporation, Metals Division, at Alloy and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was an Advent Christian minister for 52 years, having served throughout West Virginia.
Surviving: his wife, Irene Morton Summers of Kincaid; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Dwight and Joyce Carmen Summers of Beaver; daughters and sons-in-law, June and Malachi Proctor of Fayetteville, and Joy and Larry Nelson of Williams Mountain; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Robert and Janet Morton of Mooresville, N.C.; step-daughter, Sharon Morton of Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild; and a very special aunt, Rena Nicholas.
Funeral service will be today, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Rev. Terry Johnson and Rev. Roy Runion officiating. Burial will follow in the Moore Fork Cemetery, Big Otter, with military graveside rites conducted by Clay VFW Post 4419.

Mrs. Lois Raye Banks Warren, 82, of 206 Tennessee Street, Mt. Hope, died Nov. 8, 2009, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, after a long illness.
Born July 15, 1927, in Sugar Creek, Mt. Hope, she was the daughter of the late Charles Lawrence Banks and Maggie Louise Price Banks. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilbur (Billy) Banks, James (Jimmy) Banks, and Lawrence (Lonnie) Banks.
Mrs. Warren was a member of the United Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Hope, and was a beautician and homemaker.
Surviving: her husband of 58 years, James R. Warren Jr. of Mt. Hope; sons, Richard (Monica) Warren of Union City, Calif., and Kenneth D. (Alicia) Warren of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Vickie L. Warren of Beckley; brothers, Leon (Maxine) Trigg of Beckley, Dennis W. Banks of Columbus, Ohio, and Edward A. (Faye) Banks of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Gloria J. Banks of Mt. Hope, Carolyn A. Smith of Mt. Hope, Emily A. Rickman of Xenia, Ohio, and Sarah E. (James) Lang of Columbus, Ga.; three grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Nov. 15 at United Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Hope , with Rev. Phillip Copney and Pastor Sandra Jackson officiating. Burial followed in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.
