Robert Shannon Foster
Robert Shannon Foster Sr., 70, of Alta, died Dec. 3, 2009, at his home.
Born Sept. 11, 1939, in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Guy Phillip and Emma Foster. He also was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Charlotte Mae (Pritt) Foster.
Mr. Foster was a member of Laurel Fork Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving: his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert S. Foster Jr. and Condeda of Belva and Timothy Wayne Foster and Mary of Kanawha Falls; daughter and son-in-law, Chubetta and Chuck Pritt of Alta; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and brothers, Guy Phillip “Junior” and wife Julie of Lizemore, Jackie Lee Foster and wife Faye of Lizemore and Johnny Foster of Bickmore.
Funeral service was Dec. 5 at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Minister Jadie Morris officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore.

David L. Hudnall
David L. Hudnall, 56, of Virginia Beach, Va., died unexpectedly Nov. 29, 2009.
Born in Montgomery, he graduated from DuPont High School in 1971 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy right after graduation.
He served 20 years, which included Vietnam and the first Gulf War before his retirement in 1991 as a 1st class Gunner’s Mate (Guns).
He went on to graduate from Fischer Technical Institute in 1993 and work as an ASE-certified mechanic and Virginia State Inspector at various service stations in the Virginia Beach area. He currently worked for Burgess Synder Industries in Virginia Beach as a member of the In-house Fabrication Team.
Dave was an avid fisherman, woodworker, and had unlimited interest in learning everything, but his number one real love was being a grandfather.
Surviving: Monica J. Lawrence Silva of Virginia Beach; daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Wells of Virginia Beach, and Michelle Hudnall of Page; son, David L. Hudnall Jr. of Smithers; brothers, Michael L. Hudnall of Smithers, and Timothy A. (Debbie) Hudnall of St. Albans; sisters, Sonda L. (Jeffrey) Letts of Grove City, Ohio, Merilee (Ted) Davis of Indianapolis, Ind., and Rexanna (Roger) Oiler of Cannelton; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Service was Dec. 7 at B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, 10 Genesee St, Camillus, NY 13031. Burial with military honors was held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Otisco.

David T. Linkenhoker
David T. Linkenhoker (Mr. Link), 54, of Ansted, died Dec. 5, 2009, at his residence following a brief illness.
Born Nov. 19, 1955, in Ansted, he was a son of the late Calvin Howard Sr. and Rose Kyle Burruss Linkenhoker. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Kathy Linkenhoker.
David was a beloved youngest brother, uncle, great-uncle, best friend, gatekeeper, the “glue” and the “heart” of the family,
He earned a master’s degree in education; he was a graduate of Ansted High School, West Virginia Institute of Technology and Marshall University Graduate College. In 1989 he was named national future business teacher of the year; most recently he taught at Greenbrier West High School as a business teacher and yearbook advisor, affectionately known as “Mr. Link.” He also taught business in Western Greenbrier Middle School, and special education in Fayetteville Middle School. He was previously employed by Fayette County DHHR.
David was very active in his community; he was a member of the AIM committee, and worked at the Heritage Festival & Country Road Festival in Ansted. He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1982 to 1986, serving his time in Turkey.
He was a member of Gum Spring Baptist Church of Chimney Corner.
Surviving: his companion and best friend, Peggy Gray of Victor, and her daughters, Heidi and Megan; a sister, Marilyn Ann and Dick Darrah of Ware, Mass.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Calvin and Ann Linkenhoker of Fitzwilliam, N.H., Jim and Georgia Linkenhoker of Ansted, Joe and Connie Linkenhoker of Gauley Bridge, William and Crysty Linkenhoker of Hico and Robert Linkenhoker of Fayetteville; a sister-in-law, Mary Linkenhoker of Monson, Mass.; stepmother, Pauline Linkenhoker of Ansted; aunts, Betty McVey, Margie Linkenhoker, Webber Copley, and Marjorie Linkenhoker; nieces and nephews, Sherri, Tim, Matthew, Amy Jo, Linda, Andy, Brad, Amanda and Michael; great-nieces and -nephews, Ethan, Olivia, Eli, Joseph, Mia, Allyson, A.J., Hunter, Sydney, Ashlyn, Ashton and Logan; and special caregivers, Robin Monosmith and Marianne Whipkey.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home Chapel in Ansted with Rev. Mack Canterbury and Father Roy Gene Crist officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Rest Mausoleum at Victor.

John Eden Neal
John Eden Neal, 46, of Oak Hill, died Dec. 3, 2009, at CAMC Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born April 8, 1963, at Glen Ferris, he was the son of Kennith Neal and Ruth Hall Weatherholt.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Vada Neal and Carl and Arbutus Hall; an uncle, Paul Hall; and aunts, Patricia Danbury and Jean Clark.
John was a U.S. Army veteran and worked for Charter Communications of Anderson, S.C. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge #240 of Anderson, S.C.
Surviving: his wife, Sandra Kaye Neal; a son, Joshua Neal of Anderson, S.C.; a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Neal of Anderson, S.C.; his father, Kennith Neal of Scarbro; his mother, Ruth Weatherholt of Oak Hill; brother, James Neal of Ingram Branch; sisters, Angela Neal of Kincaid and Arbutus Ann Buckner of Scarbro; and a half-brother, Michael Neal of Indiana.
Funeral service was Dec. 6 at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Delmas Wolfe officiating. Burial followed in High Lawn Memorial Park.

Dr. Charles F. Stanley Jr.
Dr. Charles F. Stanley Jr., 64, of Morgantown, died Nov. 29, 2009, at his home.
Born Dec. 1, 1944, in Smithers, he was the son of the late Charles F. Sr. and Aria Made Holden Stanley.
Dr. Stanley was a longtime professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at West Virginia University. He was a humble man who never drew attention to his numerous personal awards and achievements. He assisted with black lung research for NIOSH and was actively involved with his student engineering teams.
He attended the Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church.
Surviving: his wife of 28 years, Maureene Elizabeth Jacobs Stanley; daughter, Sarah Maruee Stanley of Morgantown; sons, Douglas Anthony Stanley-Young of Morgantown and Jacob Turner Stanley of Morgantown; sister, Joyce Stanley Duncan of Michigan; granddaughter, Madelyn Sarah Elizabeth Riel; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Dec. 4 at the McCulla Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating.
