Helen Beaver
Helen Beaver, 88, of Smithers, died Jan. 7, 2010, in Montgomery General Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Born Nov. 29, 1921, at Fraziers Bottom, she was the daughter of the late E.C. and Ivory Handley Jordan. She also was preceded in death by her husband, W.E. “Jim” Beaver; four brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Beaver was a graduate of Charleston School of Commerce and she was retired from Greyhound Corporation.
Surviving: daughters, Pat Gordon and her husband, Lewis, of Yucaipa, Calif., and Jean Domingo and her husband, Paul, of Boomer; grandsons, Todd and Dirk Gordon and Frankie and Anthony Domingo; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Jan. 12 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating. Burial followed in Leon Cemetery at Leon.

Elsie Mae Browder
Mrs. Elsie Mae Browder, 80, of Broadway Ave., Oak Hill, died Jan. 7, 2010.
Born March 15, 1929, at Beards Fork, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Morris and Susie Yancey Morris. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James Browder; sons, Johnny Morris, James Evans, Roland Browder and Clark Browder; and sisters, Helen Perry, Frances Morris and Florence Fountain.
Mrs. Browder was a member of Community Baptist Church of Harlem Heights.
Surviving: her daughter, Drema (Mark) Hairston of Oak Hill; brother, Leon (Gerri) Morris of Bronx, N.Y.; sister, Phyllis “Ann” Morris of Oak Hill; daughter-in-law, Mary Evans; grandchildren she helped raise, Maria Jamison, Mary Evans, Carmen Evans, Kimberly B. Woods, and Tiffney Hairston; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Jan. 9 at Community Baptist Church with Elder Craig Dorsey officiating. Burial followed in Meadow Haven Memorial Park, Ingram Branch.
The family requests donations be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.

William Edward Mosley
William Edward Mosley died Dec. 18, 2009.
Born Jan. 20, 1937, in Burnwell, he was the son of the late Percy S. Mosley Sr. and Elsie M. Millio-Mosley. He also was preceded in death by brothers, Morris, Robert Lee and Alphonsa.
Raised in Boomer, he was one of seven children.
Mr. Mosley left Boomer after graduating high school to reside in Columbus, Ohio. While in Columbus he married Shirley Thompson and to this union two sons were born, Verto and Jerry.
He rededicated his life to Christ under the leadership of Rev. Ronald Sherrod.
Surviving: his sons, Verto and Jerry; two grandchildren; brothers, Percy Jr. and Danny; sister, Daisy; and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
Services were Jan. 9 at the Boomer First Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Sherrod and Pastor Robert Frazier officiating.

Tony Politino Jr.
Tony Politino Jr. of Pratt died Jan. 9, 2010, at home.
Born Sept. 26, 1953, in Williamson, he was the son of Tony Sr. and Lydia Nunley Politino of Yawkey.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Politino.
Mr. Politino was a 1971 graduate of Duval High School and a 1981 graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology with a degree in mining engineering. He had worked in the mining industry.
Surviving, in addition to his parents: his son, Lt. Corey Politino USN of Virginia Beach, Va.; and a brother, Shawn Politino of Warner-Robbins, Ga.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. Oshel Bell officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Joseph S. Sodder Sr.
Joseph Samuel Sodder Sr., 85, of Fayetteville, died Jan. 6, 2010, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, following an extended illness.
Born Sept. 4, 1924, at Smithers, he was the son of the late George (Sr.) and Jennie Cipriani Sodder. He also was preceded in death by his son, Joseph S. Sodder Jr.; grandson, Gary Wayne Gillespie Jr.; granddaughter, Angie Abbott; brothers, John Sodder and Michael Sodder; sister, Mary Ann Crowder; and five siblings who perished in a house fire.
Mr. Sodder was one of the owners of Sodder Trucking at Alloy. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family.
Surviving: his wife of 62 years, Clarice Louise Buckland Sodder; son, George Sodder and wife Sherrie; daughters, Vickie Gillespie and husband Gary, and Sherry Thornburg and husband Wallace; brother, George “Ted” Sodder and wife Elsie; sister, Sylvia Paxton and husband Grover; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Dorothy Walker
Dorothy Y. “Dot” Walker, 91, of Lizemores, died Jan. 8, 2010.
She was the daughter of the late Earl And Zora Stone Hypes and was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse L. Walker
Mrs. Walker was a charter member of the Ida Baptist Church of Bentree.
Surviving: her son, Leonard (Connie) Walker of Mount Carbon; daughters, Phyllis (Homer) Morton of Lizemores, Dorma (Paul) Moore of Lizemores, Peggy (and the late Denver) Moore of Oak Hill, Ann (Richard) Skaggs of Mount Carbon, Wanda (Emery) Taylor of Dalton, Ohio, and Debbie (Kelvin) VanMeter of Lizemores; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Jan. 11 at the Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Rev. John Cole and Rev. Dennis Preast officiating. Burial followed in the Stone Cemetery, Lizemores.
