Tech men roll; women lose two

Six players provided double-digit scoring to power the WVU Tech men to a 112-43 blasting of visiting Roanoke Bible Saturday in collegiate basketball action.
Victor McGee was 8-of-10 from the field and scored a team-high 19 points for the Golden Bears, who improved to 5-2. Three players — Sam Robertson, Ricky Young and Princeton Joshway — tallied 13 points apiece, while Darryl Slack netted 12 and Robby Marshall 10.
Other Tech scorers were: Vincent Coleman, 5; Zack Thomsen, 6; David Henderson, 7; Chris Rhodes, 3; Ben Shannon, 8; and Randall Thornton, 3.
Thomsen passed out eight assists. Young collected eight rebounds and Robertson seven as Tech owned a commanding 55-20 edge on the glass.
For Roanoke, C. Clark scored a team-best 18 points.

The WVU Tech women suffered a pair of losses last weekend in the Walsh (Ohio) University Classic in North Canton, Ohio.
On Saturday, the Golden Bears dropped a 92-49 verdict to the Walsh Cavaliers. The previous evening, they fell 104-30 to Shawnee State University.
Against Walsh, Tech (0-5) fell behind 39-21 at halftime and couldn’t make up any ground in the second half.
For Tech, Yahkesha Robinson tallied 17 points. Ashley Blaney registered a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Jessica Johnson netted 12 points. Other scorers were: Kayla Muncy, 2; Brenda Harris, 3; and Andrea Arias, 1.
Walsh (2-4) was led by Cara Bedard’s 16-point effort.
Against Shawnee, Blaney had 14 points and eight rebounds to pace the locals’ effort. Sharnage Young chipped in eight points, Robinson had four, and Harris and Johnson scored two each.
Mallory Albers poured in 24 for Shawnee.
