MONTGOMERY —
For the first time in WVU Tech’s history, a program has been ranked in the top 25 of the USCAA.
The men’s soccer team achieved the recognition last week.
“It is great to be No. 1 in the rankings, but this is just the first week of the season. There is more work to be done to continue being in the top 10 at season’s end,” said coach Luis Cortell. “I will congratulate the student-athletes on the honor, but will also let them know that we have 16 very important games left and that they still have more work to do and a lot more to improve on to continue maintaining a top 10 ranking.”
The No. 1 ranking capped off a great end of the week for the men’s soccer team, after Rodrigo Manzanares was named the USCAA student-athlete of the week and WVU Tech captured wins against top-ranked Ohio Christian University (4-1) and Point Park University (3-1).
The Golden Bears visited the University of Pikeville last Sunday.
