The Valley High girls escaped with a 45-43 win over Meadow Bridge Monday night, raising their record to 7-4 on the season.
Freshman Alexis Payne scored 20 points as the Greyhounds withstood a late Wildcat rally.
Valley led 34-25 before Meadow Bridge outscored the ‘Hounds 18-11 in the final frame.
Besides Payne’s scoring, Valley also got 12 points from Harley Abbott, six from Lashea Edmonds, four from Bobbi Dyer, two from Bre’onna Newkirk and one from Danielle Grubb.
Holly Gunnoe and Chandra Harrah had 11 each for Meadow Bridge (6-8).
Earlier, the Greyhound girls posted a 52-30 triumph over the Mount Hope Mustangs.
Payne netted 21 points to lead the way. Abbott chipped in eight, Edmonds and Cassie Jenkins had five each, Dyer scored four, Grubb had three, and Kasi Riddle and Taylor Auxier supplied two each.
Keisha Lee led Mount Hope with 12.
Also recently, the Riverside girls lost 60-47 to PikeView.
Kassie Cook tallied 21 for the Warriors. Heather Burford added eight.
Valley hosts Oak Hill at 7 p.m. this Thursday. The ‘Hounds visit Capital at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Greyhound boys suffered a 71-39 setback at Midland Trail Monday night.
Midland Trail hiked its record to 8-3 with the win, while Valley dipped to 7-4.
Joey Fox scored 19 points and Kelly Minter collected 13 points and eight rebounds for the Patriots.
For Valley, Cameron Cochran tallied 13 points. Other scorers were: Andre Wright, 3; Travis Brogan, 4; Gordy Mitchell, 3; Dillon Ganoe, 5; Petey Foster, 6; and Corey Tolley, 5.
On Friday, Valley defeated visiting Cross Lanes Christian 69-49.
Wright provided 13 points and 11 rebounds and Mitchell supplied 11 points and 10 assists to spearhead the ‘Hounds’ victory. Cochran poured in a team-high 26 points.
Other scorers were: Drew Jones, 2; Jack Simms, 4; Nick Acord, 7; Ganoe, 2; Foster, 2; and Arik McGinnis, 2.
CLC got 18 points from Grant Humphrey.
Valley utilized a 22-3 second-quarter advantage to gain control.
The Greyhounds host Mount Hope on Tuesday, Feb. 9. They entertain Charleston Catholic on Friday, Feb. 12.
