— According to the Fayette County Emergency Operations Center, Route 39 outside of Gauley Bridge has been shut down due to a mudslide between Alta and Belva. The incident occurred last night around 8 p.m. officials say and the road is still closed. District Nine Maintenance Engineer James Moore said this morning that crews were working on clearing the slide all night and that the best case scenario would be that the road may be open around 4 p.m. today. “It depends on how much material continues to move. We may have to work on it tonight,” Moore said. County Route 2 is being used as a detour.
