Blue jay

Among the more common birds to be seen in the area are blue jays. New River CTC is offering bird watching and nature exploration community education classes this month.

New River Community and Technical College will host bird watching and nature exploration community education classes across southern West Virginia in March.

The courses will include both classroom instruction and outdoor experience.

Bird watching classes will be two-day programs between 3 and 5 p.m. on Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

The bird watching program will take place in Summersville, March 15 and March 16; in Lewisburg, March 22 and March 23; and in Princeton, March 29 and March 30.

The nature exploration courses are single day course between 2 and 4 p.m. and are scheduled for Beaver, March 9; Summersville, March 16; Lewisburg, March 23; and Princeton, March 30.

Tuition for the bird watching course is $50, while the cost of the nature exploration course is $40 for families, $20 for adults and $10 for children.
