Meetings

Board of Education — The Fayette County Board of Education will meet Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at the central office in Fayetteville. Following is the meeting’s agenda: call to order (President Pat Gray); Pledge of Allegiance (Gary Ray); public delegations and comments; minutes/agreements/contracts (the superintendent recommends approval of the minutes for the Oct. 13 regular meeting, Oct. 27 special meeting, Oct. 27 regular meeting and Oct. 29 special meeting; the superintendent recommends approval of the Gordon Food Service contract that will be in excess of $50,000 to purchase food for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year; the superintendent recommends approval of the final reading of revision of policy of Cost Principles — Spending Federal Funds, revision of police of Local School Improvement Council, revision of policy of Homebound/Hospital Instruction, revision of policy of Open Enrollment for Nonresident Students and policy revision of Weapons); finance (the superintendent recommends approval of accounts payable beginning Nov. 2 and ending Nov. 10 with total amount payable of $1,632,473.35, list of bills is available upon request by calling 304-574-1176 ext. 2106; the superintendent recommends approval of the October Revenue and Expenditure reports and a copy of the monthly cash ledge, reports are unaudited; the superintendent recommends approval of the budget supplements of $13,500 for the month of October, and the superintendent recommends approval of the budget transfers of $367,854 for the month of October); personnel; superintendent’s report. Future regular meetings are set for Tuesday, Dec. 8 and Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. at the BOE office.

Places to Go/Things to Do

Community Christmas Party — The Fraternal Order of Eagles Montgomery Aerie #1040 will host its community Christmas party for children of the Montgomery and surrounding areas (babies through 12 years of age) on Sunday, Dec. 13. This year, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the event will be a “drive-thru” party. Line-up begins at 1 p.m. in the Valley School parking lot in Smithers. Children must be in the car to receive presents which will be gender/age specific. Tickets for drawings of the bicycles will be given and will require a name and telephone number. Bicycle winners will be notified later by phone. Santa will be visiting. Watch for him. For more information, call the Eagles Aerie at 304-442-8151.
