For 20 years, the Southern Appalachian Labor School has been offering Accent Education, Energy Express, and Feed & Read Summer Foods programs in Fayette County. Here, Neveah Lovejoy, a student at Valley Elementary in Smithers, is pictured earlier this summer receiving a Summer Foods lunch from SALS and Global Volunteers with Roma Moulding who came to volunteer with SALS from Toronto, Canada. Roma Moulding is a world renown manufacturer of museum picture frames, using wood from its private forests in Italy and Canada. Roma’s CEO is Tony Gareri, who is depicted in the background in the red shirt. At six sites, SALS provided over 2000 summer meals over the summer. SALS would welcome public support for its children’s programs. All donations are tax deductible. For more information, visit the group’s website at www.sals.info or write SALS, PO Box 127, Kincaid, WV 25119.
