Southern Appalachian Labor School was one of eight national organizations selected for a Career Pathways Innovation Project by YouthBuild USA.

The program is in collaboration with BridgeValley Community and Technical College and will provide 10 graduates of the SALS YouthBuild program the opportunity to obtain an associate degree in a technical field. According to J.D. Garcia, director of Career Pathways, the purpose of the program is to create opportunities for YouthBuild graduates to overcome obstacles and access careers in innovative ways.

The support to SALS will enable the youth to receive support for guidance, travel and college expenses. Once they achieve their college degree, they will be ready to take professional licensure examinations.
