Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley will hold its inaugural Sweet Charity event on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Women’s Club of Charleston, 1600 Virginia Street East.
Sweet Charity is a light-hearted dessert competition featuring several area confectioners and chefs. Each entrant will be scored on presentation, creativity and taste by a panel of celebrity judges. There will be live music, dessert sampling, door prizes and more.
Entrants include Teri Blevins of Lil’ Bit of Heaven Cupcakes, Chef Linda Coulter of Kroger at Ashton Place, Executive Pastry Chef Cheri Godfrey of Mardi Gras Casino & Resort; Executive Chef Wayne Poythress of Embassy Suites; the Executive Chef of Little India Restaurant; and Zach Davis, owner of Desserts by Davis.
Sweet Charity will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are available online or by mail and are $25 for a single or $40 for a couple. One hundred percent of the net proceeds of this event will support the work of Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley.
