BridgeValley Community and Technical College (BridgeValley) is the first college in West Virginia to join the Association of Diesel Specialists, the worldwide diesel industry's leading trade association.

"As the first college in the state to join the Association of Diesel Specialists, we're setting the standard for diesel technology programs in this region," said Dr. Eunice Bellinger, president. "Membership will provide the college with ongoing opportunities for growth and expanded education in this field, and we're pleased that we can now further our program's success through the organization. This partnership will ultimately benefit our students and regional employers."

According to BridgeValley's Diesel Technology Program Coordinator Anthony Anderson, membership comes with international recognition for the college, connections for parts and tools and access to additional training, in addition to being listed on the association's website as a member.

BridgeValley has offered a Diesel Technology degree and certificate since 2006 that was developed in response to industry demand. Students receive training in diesel engines, electrical systems, welding, suspension and steering, safety, computer applications, brakes and hydraulics, and participate in an internship and professional development or interviewing strategy courses. Upon graduation, students are prepared for positions as diesel technicians for on and off highway equipment.
