During its regularly scheduled meeting on Sept. 13, the Fayette County Commission was presented with a certificate of appreciation signed by CSM Jerome Whelan and Col. Randall D. Isom, both of the West Virginia Army National Guard, stating: “For outstanding service during the Twenty-fourth World Scout Jamboree providing support to over 50,000 Scouts from 120 countries that enhanced cultural awareness and mutual understanding around the world.” During the World Jamboree, the commission opened the Fayette County Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building to the WVARNG to host a free comedy show for the soldiers working the Jamboree.
