The West Virginia Humanities Council announces a national initiative to promote the teaching of the humanities in America’s community colleges. The National Endowment for the Humanities recently awarded a $360,000 grant to the Community College Humanities Association for the nationwide effort to strengthen humanities course content.
The project, titled “Advancing the Humanities at Community Colleges,” will provide 18 community colleges with the opportunity to enhance humanities offerings on their own campuses. The colleges will be chosen on a competitive basis.
Applications for the competition are due April 25. Interested applicants may contact David A. Berry at the Community College Humanities Association, c/o Essex County College, 303 University Avenue, Newark, NJ 07102, 973-873-3577 or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
