The Three Rivers Avian Center will present Birds of Prey at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13 during Fayetteville's Wild Weekend Nature Festival.

Things are getting wild in Fayetteville next month.

From Friday, Aug. 13 through Sunday, Aug. 15, one of the nation’s coolest small towns will host visitors to a nature festival to learn what makes Fayetteville so wild and wonderful.

Fayetteville’s Wild Weekend Nature Festival will feature a wide variety of programs ranging from educational programs designed specifically for youngsters and adults to guided hikes and adventure activities.

“We want to invite you to come on an adventure with us and discover all the nature that Fayetteville has to offer,” officials write on the town Convention and Visitor Bureau website, visitfayettevillewv.com.

“Come and celebrate the features, creatures and culture that make Fayetteville the unique place that it is.”

While additional activities may be added, following is the current schedule for the weekend.

Friday, Aug. 13

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Pop-up Nature Center at Fayetteville Visitor Center

1 to 4 p.m. — Kids Camp sponsored by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection and West Virginia State University

7 p.m. — Birds of Prey presentation with Three Rivers Avian Center

Saturday, Aug. 14

9 a.m. — Yoga, Adventures on the Gorge, with New River Yoga

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Pop-up Nature Center at the Fayetteville Visitor Center

11 a.m. — Snakes of West Virginia with Roy Moose

2 p.m. — Tree ID Hike, Burnwood Trail, with Chase Raso

2 to 5 p.m. — Nature Market, vendors

Sunday, Aug. 15

9 a.m. — Yoga, Adventures on the Gorge, with New River Yoga

9 a.m. — Foraging Hike with Mitchell Dech, Wolf Creek Birding Center

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Pop-up Nature Center at the Fayetteville Visitor Center

12 p.m. — Mountain Biking Races, Arrowhead Bike Farm, Brapps then Tapps event
