Joseph Raines, of Madison, visited the Kanawha Falls Public Fishing Access Area in Glen Ferris on Monday with his 10-year-old daughter, Gracie. An avid angler who has dropped his line at Kanawha Falls often, Raines took advantage of a non-work day for him, Gracie not being in school and the nice weather to make the trip and take his boat out on the Kanawha River. “I love fishing anyway; that’s my biggest hobby,” he said Monday morning as they prepared to put in. The plan was “to just come out and enjoy the day together. If we catch something, that’s good. If we don’t, that’s fine, too.” Rather than fishing from the shore line, Raines said going out in the boat allowed him and his daughter to practice a little more social distancing while trying to entice the fish to bite.
