In recent high school softball and baseball games:

Valley 10, Fayetteville 6

Robert VanMeter struck out 11 while yielding six runs on eight hits for a complete-game baseball victory for host Valley Wednesday.

The Greyhounds (1-1) rallied for four runs in the fifth to nail down the win.

Valley was led by Cameron Belmont (3-for-4), Dillon Ganoe (two-run homer), Austin Belmont (2-for-3, homer, three RBIs), Tyler Sears (2-for-3, double, RBI) and Zac Tolley (two-run homer).

Troy Hopkins was 2-for-4 with a homer and a pair of RBIs for the Pirates (3-2), and Frankie Ferrell had two RBIs. Also, K.C. Dempsey had a double, and Nich Carte and JonPaul Blankenship each produced an RBI.

Independence 7, Oak Hill 4

Scarlett Lawson had a double and two RBIs and Beth Huffman recorded a pair of hits to lead Independence to the softball win.

Erin Wilson went 3-for-3 with a triple for the Red Devils, and Sara Baber had one RBI.

Wilson absorbed the loss on the mound, scattering eight hits.

Oak Hill 8, Liberty 1

Tyler Zimm stood out on the mound and at the plate for undefeated Oak Hill Thursday.

Zimm handcuffed Liberty on three hits and he was also 3-of-5 with a home run and two RBIs.

Catcher Jerad Wolfe went 2-for-4 with a double and Dustin Nuckels was 2-for-3 and drove in a run. Brent Brash was 1-for-3.

The Raiders scored their lone run in the bottom of the first inning.
