The Greyhound girls remained unbeaten last Wednesday with the 13-point verdict over visiting Charleston Catholic.

Alexis Payne enjoyed a monster game for Valley (4-0), scoring 37 points and pulling down 24 rebounds.

Abby Buchan added 16 points, Kelsey Bird scored 12, and Gracyn Grubb grabbed nine rebounds for the ‘Hounds.

Samantha Fletcher had 25 points and Anna Whalen 19 for the Irish.

Valley played Fayetteville Monday night.

The Greyhounds opened their season last Tuesday with the easy win over host Fayetteville.

Arik McGinnis bucketed a game-high 15 points to spearhead the win, while teammate Raeshawn Breckenridge tossed in 10.

Zach Semple scored eight for the Pirates.

Valley (1-0) was slated to host Sherman last night.

Riverside 70

Shady Spring 64

The Warrior boys started their campaign with the victory last Tuesday on the road.

Marcus Reed scored 16 points and Josh Butcher had 15 — all on three-point goals — to lead the Warriors. Tyus Wood chipped in 11 and Tanner Lawson 10. Other scorers were: Quan Brock, 4; Nick Light, 8; and Timmy Womack, 6.

Chase Conner tallied 32 points for the Tigers.

Riverside hosts South Charleston on Thursday, Dec. 20 before facing Capital at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21 in the Hoops Classic at the Charleston Civic Center.

The Riverside girls (2-3) will entertain Winfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21. In their most recent outings, they defeated Elk Valley Christian 70-44 and lost to Spring Valley 75-35.
