Following is a look at early middle school basketball action:

Trap Hill 52

Midland Trail 36

On Dec. 3, the Trap Hill boys led 22-18 at halftime before pulling away for a 16-point verdict over visiting Midland Trail.

For the Patriots (1-2), Bo Persinger (13) and Alex Dempsey (11) combined for 24 points to lead the way. Also providing offense were Aaron Dempsey with eight points and Talon Shockey with four.

Bowman netted 18 and Calloway 12 for Trap Hill.

Midland Trail is slated to host Greater Beckley Christian on Dec. 6.

Webster County 41

Midland Trail 38

The Midland Trail boys fell just short of host Webster County on Dec. 1 in the finals of the Webster County Tip-Off Classic.

Alex Dempsey bucketed 13 points and Aaron Dempsey had 12 to guide the Patriots. Bo Persinger chipped in seven points and Talon Shockey scored six.

Leichlirter tallied nine to pace Webster County.

Tygarts Valley 27

In the first round of the Webster County Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 30, the Patriot boys eased by Tygarts Valley.

Bo Persinger's 12-point effort paced Midland Trail. Alex Dempsey added 11 points, Aaron Dempsey scored five and Caden Morgan tossed in three.

E. Scott led Tygarts Valley with 15.

East Bank 53

Dunbar 2

The East Bank girls rolled past Dunbar last week.

East Bank was led by Crowder's 15 points. Other leading scorers were: White, 10; and Terrell, 8.

Top scorers for the EB girls in the contest were: White, 18; Williams, 10; and Terrell, 8.
