Region 3 high school cheer squads representing schools in all three WVSSAC classification levels competed Saturday at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
In Class A, the Midland Trail Patriots were victorious with a score of 327.2 points. Fayetteville was runner-up with 297.75 points. Those two teams will advance to the state championship event on Saturday, Dec. 8.
Webster County (260.05) followed in third, and Valley (255.5) placed fourth. Rounding out the Class A field were Summers County (223.5), Montcalm (196.4), Pocahontas County (180.15) and Richwood (147.65).
The Class AA champion was Man (341.35), followed by runner-up Westside (336.35). Oak Hill (334.65) was a close third.
In Class AAA, George Washington (355.1) captured the championship. Woodrow Wilson (349.2) was second, and Riverside (326.15) finished third.
