The Valley Rockets flag team captured their third consecutive UKFMFL championship on Nov. 7 with a 12-8 triumph over the Twin City Miners. The win allowed the Rockets to cap a 10-0 season.
In the championship game, the Rockets faced the Miners for the third time this year. The contest turned out to be a defensive affair.
Valley struck first with a Ethan Coy touchdown run. The scored remained 6-0 until early in the third quarter when the Miners scored on a long run and a two-point conversion to take an 8-6 lead.
Valley got the ball back in the final period and Ethan Coy broke another scoring run to put the Rockets back in front, 12-8.
The Miners got the ball back with about a minute to go, but the Valley defense stood strong and stopped them as the clock expired.
Defensively for the Rockets, Bryce Ford, Tyler Perdue, Peyton Foreman, Eadin Miller, Hayden Vickers, Ethan Coy, Jon Tyler Graves, Joey Tilson and Gage Jeffries got flags.
To advance to the title game, Valley erupted for 30 points to coast to a win over the Cabin Creek Cubs on Oct. 31. The offense was led by Ethan Coy, who scored two touchdowns and a two-point conversion. Peyton Foreman added one touchdown and a two-point conversion, and Anthony Anderson supplied a two-point conversion.
The Valley offense also completed one pass, with Jon Tyler Graves throwing to Hayden Vickers, who ran 59 yards for a touchdown.
