Riverside's Trevor Carson, shown in the 2018 state cross-country meet, led the Warriors to a fifth-place team finish at Saturday's St. Mary's XC Festival.

The Riverside High boys logged a fifth-place team finish in the St. Mary's XC Festival Saturday at Ona.

Morgantown won the boys division with 66 points, while Preston (71) was a close second. Riverside (127) placed fifth.

Following are individual placers for the Warrior boys, according to results on

• Trevor Carson, sixth, 17 minutes, 12.31 seconds

• Trenton Green, eighth, 17:18.96

• Jaden Booker, 31st, 18:40.89

• Charles Melvin, 39th, 19:05.64

• Tristen Young, 43rd, 19:24.42

• Hunter Whittington, 54th, 20:12.30

• Ethan Chambers, 66th, 23:58.75.

Hurricane's Wyatt Hanshaw was the front-runner in the boys race with a clocking of 16:07.70.

On the girls side, Morgantown's Lea Hatcher (18:11.82) was the individual champion, and her team easily claimed the title with 35 points.

For Riverside, Jacque Arrington was the lone finisher, placing 35th with a time of 23:31.03.

Riverside is slated to compete in the Golden Bear Classic in Beckley on Friday, Sept. 6.
